A former rubbish picker in Brazil has begun a career as a model after handing back more than ￡50,000 in checks which had accidentally been thrown away among a hospital´s rubbish. The single mother, 23, in Barretos, Brazil, was struggling to raise her 3-year-old son by working 10 hours a day sifting through rubbish. When she found the checks she delivered them in person to the director of the hospital. Her selfless act prompted a shopping mall to use her in their TV adverts with a male model. She has also started evening school to complete her studies and has already been offered other modelling jobs.
