Younger executives will hold power at the China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), Sinopec Group and China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC). CNPC chairman Zhou Jiping and his Sinopec counterpart Fu Chengyu both retired before the May Day holiday, according to sources. CNOOC chairman Wang Yilin will become the new leader of CNPC, and his position will be taken by CNOOC general manager Yang Hua. Wang Yupu (see cover, L), deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, will be named the new chairman of Sinopec. The new chairmen will be challenged to steer the oil giants through the corruption crackdown and tumbling revenues.
